Behavioral Support Services
provides person-centered behavioral support to individuals receiving HCBS waiver services in the District of Columbia. Services are designed to promote safety, skill development, and improved quality of life through proactive, trauma-informed strategies that respect the rights and dignity of each person.
Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA): A Licensed Behavioral Specialist conducts comprehensive assessments to identify behaviors and develop informed support strategies.
Individualized Behavior Support Plans: Clinically-sound, trauma-informed plans are developed in collaboration with each person, their support team, and caregivers to promote skill building and reduce interfering behaviors.
Skill-Building and Behavior Coaching: Support may include teaching and reinforcing communication, emotional regulation, and daily living skills that enhance independence.
Team and Caregiver Training: Direct Support Professionals, caregivers, and other team members receive individualized training on implementing support strategies, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across environments.
Ongoing Monitoring and Plan Updates: Progress is reviewed regularly to update strategies and ensure alignment with the person’s goals and evolving needs.
