Other Ways to Give

There are many creative ways to support our programs and services. Explore what works for you.

Leaving a Legacy

Create a lasting legacy with a planned gift.

GIFT IN WILL

Your legacy gift will create a future where every person’s dream can be realized. You can create your legacy by leaving a percentage of your estate or a specific amount to SJCS.

Beneficiary Designations

A beneficiary designation gift is a simple and affordable way to make a gift to support St. John’s Community Services (SJCS) and ensure that every person has the opportunity to realize their dreams. You can designate SJCS as a beneficiary of a retirement, investment, or bank account or your life insurance policy.

To make your gift, contact the person who helps you with your account or insurance policy, such as your broker, banker, or insurance agent. Ask them to send you a new beneficiary designation form.

Complete the form, sign it, and mail it back to your broker, banker, or agent.

When you pass away, your account or insurance policy will be paid or transferred to SJCS, consistent with the beneficiary designation.

Give stocks, bonds or mutual funds

A gift of appreciated securities like stocks, bonds and mutual funds can be a great way to support St. John’s Community Services (SJCS) mission to ensure every person lives their best life.

When you transfer ownership of securities to SJCS, you will receive a charitable deduction for the full market value and incur no capital gains tax subject to IRS deductible limitations. The process is simple. If you would like to make a gift of stock or mutual funds, please contact Bessie Thibodeaux-Belcher at bbelcher@sjcs.org.

Donor Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes. If you have a donor-advised fund, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants St. John’s Community Services (SJCS), directly from your DAF (as long as your DAF’s sponsoring organization is participating).

How does it work?

Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free).

Recommend grants to the charities you support, with the option of being recognized or remaining anonymous.

Corporate Partnerhips/Gifts-in-Kind
