Growing Where It's Needed Most: How The Pantry Is Expanding Food Access

At St. John's, we believe food access is a right, not a privilege. And right now, The Pantry is growing to make that real for more families in more places.

Expanding into Washington, D.C.

In the DC metro area, we're growing The Pantry's pop-up network to meet families where they are. Rather than asking neighbors to navigate long distances or limited transit, we bring food directly into the communities facing the greatest barriers to access — prioritizing neighborhoods with limited transportation, fewer grocery options, and tighter household budgets. Because showing up for people means actually showing up.

Tennessee: Extended Hours

The Pantry in Tennessee is growing. We've extended our hours earlier in the day, now running 12:00–3:00 PM, so even more families can access food and get what they need.

A New Partner: USDA's TEFAP Program

We're proud to be partnering with the USDA's Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in Tennessee, which provides low-income community members with free, nutritious food. Through this partnership, we're able to offer more nutritious foods including fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk, and grains, bringing greater variety and consistency to the families who count on your support.

With your support, seniors, families with young children, and people living with disabilities can access nutritious food.

And right now, you can help keep The Pantry stocked for the families who rely on it by making a gift.Your gift helps provide fresh food, staple items, and ready-to-eat meals for neighbors across our communities.

Help Keep The Pantry Stocked So No Neighbor Goes Without

Every donation helps fill shelves and put nutritious food into the hands of families who need it most.
