Suzanne Celebrates 24 Years at Harris Teeter, and the Impact Goes Beyond a Paycheck

When Suzanne started working at Harris Teeter in October 2002, she began a career that would become a lasting part of her life. This month, she celebrates 24 years of keeping shelves organized, helping coworkers, and contributing to the store’s daily operations.

That kind of loyalty is worth celebrating. Many people you help support stay with their employers for years, sometimes decades, building experiences and relationships that grow with every anniversary.

Your generosity makes that possible. Through SJCS Supported Employment, you help adults living with disabilities find work that matches their skills, interests, and aspirations, with personalized coaching and ongoing support to succeed.

A paycheck gives someone more say in how they spend their money and more freedom to decide how they want to live their life.

It’s really more than just a job, it's having a chance to be a part of, to belong in and to build connections in their community. Opening up opportunities for co-workers to become friends or acquaintances outside of work, creating natural support circles that every person needs in their life.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Suzanne’s anniversary shows how far an employment opportunity can reach.

With your support, more adults living with disabilities can find a job they love and receive the guidance they need to build long lasting careers.
