Opening the Doors to College for Students Living with Disabilities

Starting college is a milestone many students and their parents imagine for years. This fall, that dream is becoming a reality for students living with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Through a new partnership between UT Martin’s SAIL program and the Medicaid Alternative Pathways program, students living with disabilities have the opportunity to experience college while developing academic, career and independent living skills.

With your support, students are receiving the person-centered support they need to navigate this new chapter with confidence.

For students, this experience offers the freedom to make decisions, discover new possibilities and begin shaping the future they want. For their parents, it means watching their students reach an extraordinary milestone and take meaningful steps toward greater independence.

With their first weeks of classes underway, they’re adjusting to new schedules, exploring their interests and becoming part of the UT Martin community.

Your support helps make dreams of higher education a reality for students living with disabilities. Because of you, they can begin college with the unique care and encouragement they need to succeed in school, build confidence and experience everything else that comes with being a college student.
