A Night to Remember: Fireworks with the Rockabillys
On a warm July evening in Jackson, the crack of the bat, the laughter of friends, and the sparkle of fireworks came together for a night filled with joy, community, and connection.
Fireworks Night with the Rockabillys was more than just a baseball game — it was an opportunity for the people we support to be part of something bigger. As fans filled the stands, the people we support proudly walked onto the field, announced as special guests for the evening. One of the individuals we care for, Gene, threw the ceremonious first pitch to roaring applause, setting the tone for an unforgettable night.
From the first inning to the last, smiles and laughter filled the air. The people you help support cheered, danced, and even led the crowd in singing the 7th-inning stretch, Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Between innings, The Rockabillys players tossed out SJCS heart-shaped stress baseballs, spreading a little extra joy into the crowd. Giving spectators a keepsake to remind them of SJCS even after the night was over.
As the game ended, the night sky lit up with a spectacular fireworks display — each burst a celebration of community, inclusion, and belonging. Around the stadium, kids ran and played, families enjoyed the summer evening, and our community came together in the best way possible.
At SJCS, we believe that “Here for you” means being present in the community to address what’s needed most. Whether that's care and support for individuals of all abilities, helping families fleeing domestic violence find a safe place to live or giving hope to a youth who is experiencing homelessness and needs some love and support to get back on their feet.
The Fireworks Night was a beautiful reminder that when we come together — to support people who need it the most — community becomes so much more than just the place you live.
