Work That Means Something More
Every October, we celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to honor the vital contributions people with disabilities bring to the workforce and to highlight how employment changes lives.
At SJCS, we believe everyone deserves the chance to work a job they love, earn a paycheck, and be part of a team. Through our Supported Employment program, we help adults living with disabilities identify their interests, develop skills, and find meaningful jobs.
We offer remote or on-the-job support so that adults living with disabilities can achieve their employment goals and thrive in workplaces that value them as team members.
Phyllis is a perfect example of your support. She works in the kitchen of a local school, where she keeps dishes sparkling clean and ensures lunch trays are fully stocked for students. Phyllis greets staff and students with a cheerful “good morning!” every day. Her positivity is contagious! Her coworkers light up when she’s around, and she takes immense pride in a job well done.
When we ask the people you help support what they love about working, they always share how much they love their co-workers and the independence that comes from having money to do things they enjoy. Your support makes that joy and independence a reality.
Your support makes stories like Phyllis’s possible. Because of you, adults living with disabilities are building careers, relationships, and independence in their communities.
