Next week, September 13–19, people across the country will celebrate Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. This national celebration recognizes the essential work of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and the difference they make in the lives of people living with disabilities every day.
At SJCS, DSPs work alongside the people they support, providing person-centered care shaped by each person’s goals, needs and passions. They may help someone build new skills, navigate a daily routine, explore their community, pursue a favorite hobby or take another step toward greater independence.
The impact of a DSP extends far beyond the daily support they provide. DSPs build trusted relationships, celebrate milestones and help create opportunities for adults living with disabilities to live with greater choice, connection and purpose.
Their compassion, patience and commitment change the lives of the individuals they support every single day.
