Our Mission
Advancing Community Support and Opportunities
for People Living with Disabilities.
Since 1868, St. John’s Community Services
(SJCS) role as a non-profit human service agency
has been to develop creative ways to support children
and adults with disabilities as well as the communities
in which they live. SJCS embodies
a continuing search for the most effective ways
to include people with disabilities into the
living fabric of our community. We advance our
mission through practices that offer innovative models for other agencies, through community advocacy and
education, and through collaboration with government
agencies at every level as part of the policy
creation process.
Our Values
We believe each person should:
- Be included, respected, and valued.
- Have ongoing information, experiences, and
expectations from which to make choices.
- Have a variety of relationships.
- Live and participate in the communities of
their choice.
- Have a career, dreams for the future and make
meaningful contributions.
Our Vision
St. John's Community Services is about
people and building relationships. It is our purpose
to create strong relationships throughout our
communities, with our staff, with our volunteers
and with everyone with whom we come in contact
to best serve people with disabilities. SJCS
envisions building better communities to build
opportunities for people with disabilities to
be valued citizens. Building one community at
a time, we support people with disabilities to
develop a lifelong network of friends, employers, teachers
and peers,
so that St. John’s Community Services may become less needed.
